The secret to healthy longevity: Sirtuins and Skin whitening

 

What are sirtuins? They are called SIRT and produce sirtuins, fundamental proteins that allow cells to live longer. And therefore, us too.  Scientists have begun to understand how to stimulate them pharmacologically, but also with lifestyle interventions and with naturally derived molecules.  When we are too stressed, it is often necessary to stop, take a break and regain energy.  A rule that does not only apply to us, but also to our cells.

 

If they are subjected to "stress" they need rest to recharge.  Evolution has selected specific mechanisms that allow cells to enter a "stand-by" state.  A recovery system that extends the life of the cell and also that of our organism.

 

 

Scientists have managed to identify a family of genes that play a fundamental role.  This is why they are considered the most important genes for longevity.  They are called SIRT genes and seven are known in humans.

 

These seven genes are responsible for the production of sirtuins, proteins that are essential for the survival of all living beings, which are activated in the presence of threats or conditions of metabolic stress:  cold temperatures, food shortages, imminent danger.  In all these cases, sirtuins reduce the activity of cellular reproduction to concentrate all resources on survival.

 

Furthermore, scientists have highlighted how the activity of sirtuins is essential for maintaining cardiac health and for the proper functioning of the circadian cycle, that is, the sleep-wake rhythm, which seems to undergo a significant decline with age.  For all these reasons, sirtuins have been defined as anti-aging proteins.

 

 

Several studies have shown how the activity of sirtuins can slow down the aging process and can reduce the risk of related diseases, such as cancer, metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.

 

Today, several ways are known to stimulate their production:  Through intermittent fasting or with a simple reduction in daily caloric intake, which are correlated with an increase in average lifespan in several species. And not only that.  Molecules of natural origin have also been identified - such as resveratrol - capable of activating these proteins and allowing the cell to live longer.

 

Another natural molecule that has recently attracted the attention of researchers is Niacin (Vitamin B3), or rather a particular form of it called NR (nicotinamide riboside), defined by some researchers as a supervitamin. When it enters the cells, NR in turn generates a molecule called NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide).  Necessary for the activity of more than 500 enzymes, including sirtuins.  As we age, NAD levels decrease to the point of causing many enzymatic systems to fail.  However, dietary supplementation with NR, and other similar supervitamins, has been shown to replenish physiological levels of NAD and activate sirtuins.

 

Sirtuins begin to decline after the age of 35 and are minimally produced by the human body after the age of 60. The progressive decline in sirtuins leads to a series of overall inefficiencies in the human body.  Examples are loss of personal autonomy, deterioration and shortening of healthy life and longevity.

 

Sirtuins can also be activated by caloric restriction, where a doubling of lifespan has been observed in preclinical experimental models.  Sirtuins can also be activated by natural plant-based compounds.  These natural plant-based supplements could help decrease the massive daily intake of fruits and vegetables containing natural sirtuin activators, which would be necessary to consume in order to benefit from a similar amount of purified protective factors, thus also eliminating the excess calories that one would have to consume.
